Privacy policy
Draft, not yet in effect. The details in brackets are filled in before Yusho launches.
Yusho is an app for rating, reviewing and ranking the anime you watch. This policy says what Yusho keeps about you, why, who can see it, and how to delete it. The short version: Yusho keeps what you put into it so it can show it back to you, it never sells it, and you can delete all of it from the app at any time.
Who runs Yusho
Yusho is run by [OWNER] (“we” and “us” in this policy). For anything about your data, email support@yushoanime.com.
What Yusho keeps
Your account
- Your email address, so Yusho can send you sign-in codes. Yusho has no passwords.
- Your username, and a display name if you set one. If you change your username, your old one is kept for 30 days so nobody else can take it.
- Your seal, if you choose one: one or two characters and a shape, shown as your picture.
What you put into Yusho
- Your season logs: whether you're watching, finished or dropped a season, your scores, your tags, your review and its spoiler section, and when you finished.
- Your final verdicts on finished shows: a score, a review, and a one-line verdict if you write one.
- Your ranking, and its history: where each show sits, and a record of each time you placed, moved or removed a show, and each time you changed a verdict's score.
- Finales you've chosen to skip.
- Who you follow, and who you've blocked.
- Your likes (推) on other people's verdicts, your comments on verdicts and whether you marked them as spoilers, and who may comment on your own verdicts.
- Your Following stories: a short record, made by Yusho's server, each time you place or re-place a show through VS, finish a season, or write a final verdict. It's what your followers' Following page shows, and it goes when what it records goes (a show you remove, a log or verdict you delete).
- That you agreed to the community rules, and when.
- Reports you send: what you reported, the reason you picked, and your note if you add one.
- Your notices in the app: new followers, likes and comments on your verdicts, anything of yours removed under the community rules, and which you've seen.
- Your watchlist: the shows you've saved to watch, and when you saved them.
- Your hanko: the stamps you've earned, when you earned them, and which you've seen.
- Your Quick top 5: the shows you picked, in order, and when you made it.
- Your tier lists: their names, the shows in each and the tier you put each one in.
- Your omikuji draws: the show each one drew from your watchlist, its fortune, and when you drew it.
What's recorded while you use it
- Our hosting provider keeps short-lived logs of requests to Yusho's servers, which include your IP address, your device's app version, and when each request was made. We use them to keep Yusho working and to find problems.
- A count of your recent requests for show information, so no one account can overload Yusho.
- When you ask for a sign-in code, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you're a person and not a script, using signals from your device and its browser engine. Most people never see it.
Yusho doesn't collect your contacts, location, photos or advertising identifier. It has no ads, no analytics, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
Why Yusho keeps it
- To run your account and show you your logs, verdicts and ranking.
- To send the codes you sign in with.
- To keep Yusho secure and stop abuse, such as automated sign-ups or scraping.
- To find and fix problems.
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for advertising. If you're in the European Economic Area or the UK, our legal basis is that we need this information to provide the service you signed up for, plus our legitimate interest in keeping Yusho secure.
Who can see it
Yusho is a place for fans to share their opinions. Other signed-in Yusho users can see your username, display name, seal, scores, tags, reviews, verdicts and ranking, who you follow and who follows you. Spoiler sections are hidden until someone chooses to reveal them, but they aren't private. Write only what you're happy for other fans to read.
Your followers see your VS placements and re-places in their Following page, including which show you picked over which. They also see the seasons you finish, with your score, and the final verdicts you write. The people you follow, and only they, appear in your Following page and on a show's page with their scores for it.
Everyone who can see a verdict can see its likes and who gave them, and its comments. Comments marked as spoilers are hidden until someone chooses to reveal them. You choose who may comment on your verdicts in Settings, Privacy: everyone, people you follow, or no one. You can delete any comment on your verdicts, and your own anywhere. A comment you report is hidden for you at once, and a comment several people report is hidden until a moderator looks at it.
Your hanko show on your profile unless you turn off Show my hanko in Settings, Privacy. Your watchlist is only for you unless you turn on Show my watchlist there, and a tier list only when you choose to show it on your profile.
If you block someone, neither of you can see the other's profile or anything either of you writes, and they aren't told. Nobody but you can see who you've blocked.
Your Quick top 5, omikuji draws, opinion history, swipe skips and Senpai picks are never shown to anyone. What you tell Bridge you love is never stored. Your email address is never shown to anyone.
Reports and moderation
When you report something, Yusho keeps your report and a copy of what you reported as it was then, so an edit can't hide it. Only Yusho's moderators see reports. Nobody, moderators included, is shown who sent one, and the person you report is never told.
Before something you write is shown to others, Yusho's database checks it against a short list of words Yusho doesn't allow. The check happens inside Yusho: nothing you write is sent to another company for it.
When reports come in, Yusho's moderator gets an email saying how many are waiting and why. It names no one and quotes nothing. If a moderator removes something of yours, you get a notice in the app saying what was removed. If your account is suspended, your profile and everything you wrote are hidden from everyone else while it lasts, and your own things still work for you.
Closed reports, with their copies, are deleted after 180 days, and so are the copies of anything a moderator removed. A record of what a moderator did, without the copy, stays while the account it concerns exists, so repeated problems can be seen.
Services Yusho uses
These companies process information for us, only to provide their service to Yusho:
- Supabase hosts Yusho's database, sign-in and server functions. Your account and everything you put into Yusho is stored there, in the United States.
- Resend sends the emails with your sign-in codes, and the moderator's report alerts, which name no one.
- Cloudflare runs the Turnstile check when you ask for a sign-in code, and hosts these pages. Signing in depends on it.
- TMDB (The Movie Database) supplies show information and artwork. Posters, backdrops and streaming services' logos load on your device straight from TMDB's servers, so TMDB sees your IP address and which images were asked for. Yusho sends TMDB nothing about you.
- JustWatch supplies where-to-watch information, through TMDB. To show the services in your country, the app sends Yusho's server your phone's region setting (two letters, like US). It isn't stored or logged, and it isn't passed on to TMDB or JustWatch.
- YouTube plays trailers. A trailer opens on YouTube's own site, in a browser sheet inside the app, so that visit is YouTube's, under Google's privacy policy. Yusho sends YouTube nothing about you.
What stays on your phone
To be quick and to work offline, Yusho keeps some things on your phone: your sign-in session, unsaved log and verdict drafts, your recent searches, show information, and a copy of your ranking, verdicts and profile (kept up to 30 days). Signing out or deleting your account removes your account's copies from the phone. Show information isn't about you, so it can stay as a cache.
When you share your shelf, your Quick top 5 or a tier list, its image is made on your phone and goes only where you send it. Yusho doesn't upload it.
How long Yusho keeps it, and deleting it
Yusho keeps your information for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings, then Delete account. Deleting is immediate and permanent. Your profile, logs, reviews, verdicts, ranking and its history, watchlist, hanko, follows, blocks, likes, comments, Following stories and notices are deleted at once, and can't be brought back, and so are any reports about you and moderation records about you. Reports you sent stay, without your name on them, until they're closed and deleted after 180 days.
Records in our providers' logs, such as request logs and email delivery records, are kept by them for a short time and then deleted. Show information stays in Yusho, since it isn't yours.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the information Yusho holds about you, to correct it, to delete it, to get a copy of it, and to object to how it's used. You can correct and delete everything from the app. For anything else, email support@yushoanime.com and we'll answer within 30 days. If you're in the European Economic Area or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. California residents: Yusho doesn't sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms.
Children
Yusho isn't for children under 13, or under the minimum age for using online services without a parent's consent where you live. We don't knowingly keep information about them. If you think a child has an account, email support@yushoanime.com and we'll delete it.
Where your information goes
Yusho's information is stored and processed in the United States. Where the law requires it, our providers use recognised safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, for information that leaves the European Economic Area or the UK.
Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Each account can change only its own information, and the keys that can do more never leave our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe, and we'll tell you if something goes wrong that affects you.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version goes here with a new date. If a change matters, Yusho will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
